About Charné Mungur Studio
Charné Mungur is a fine arts sculptor and mixed-media artist based in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), Eastern Cape, South Africa.

Combining printmaking with sculpture, she works in steel, brass and wood, challenging traditional materials to raise awareness and foster dialogue around social and environmental issues, with a focus on the repetitive or recurring nature of these realities.
Awards and studies
A Sasol New Signatures Merit Award winner, she is currently completing her honours in Visual Arts, majoring in Sculpture at Nelson Mandela University.
Recent sculpture
Her recent work includes Echoes of Silence, a steel sculpture marked with 2 150 342 intentional grinder marks; 5 271 Days Behind Trauma, a screen print and hand carve on brass; and Shrouded, a carved wood sculpture.
